Dyson | Sephora Linear Display
Development, Prototype, Production, Rollout

During my time at Dyson as a Technical Designer, I helped developed the first concept in the US where machines were displayed vertically on a tile system in Sephora.

The system had individual tiles, either a machine tile with a demo product, accessory tile, or a graphic tile that showed lifestyle artwork or more info about the products. What was unique about this design, it can be interchanged at the store level in different configurations without the need for expert and costly installers for future resets.

I engineered a full-scale mockup at the office to test with the stakeholders at Dyson. I provided detailed drawings to our local fabricator to build a ‘stand’ to hold the modular tiles.

The unsung hero to this modular tile system was the retractor system on the machines. It took multiple iterations but, in the end, together with our vendor, we came up with a solution that allowed for 13″ pull and retracted the cable back into the display smoothly.

In 2024, the Linear Display received an overhaul with the Dyson ‘Black World’ Design (shown below). Same great features but added the Dyson Logo header, a lockable cabinet for boxstock, and new improved holders for the demo products.

Today, this Linear Display is in over 350 doors in Sephora and will receive an NPD Launch update in Spring 2025!
